Today was International Day Of Peace. And if we really need a certain day of the year and an anthem to wish for peace theres definitely no better song for it than John Lennons Imagine. Due to a year only having 365 days there are probably a few dozen other Days Of Something today that we dont know of. But we are aware of the 21st September also being World Alzheimers Day. If we could make a wish, this Dementia memorial day would be the last one ever marked in a calendar, because someone had finally found a cure for it. However, there are more people affected every year and our heart goes out to all who suffer, as well as to their families and carers. Not to compare with Lennon or Imagine, but if we were allowed to devote a song to the Dementia cause, wed hope for people to find solace in our song The Wide, Wide Land. For all of you who dont know yet, it was a musical farewell for our granny who had suffered from Alzheimers for many years. Its about how she gradually lost her memories, the language and the relation to our world. But she would still keep smiling and humming melodies. It was clear from the beginning that this song could only have one title: She used to take long walks across the planes of her hometown, and literally every single time she would stop for a moment, look over the country and meaningfully quote Arthur Schnitzlers tragicomedy The wide land. As if she knew that we would once look for a metaphor to describe the vast lands of an unfathomable mind. Let the song give everyone concerned a bit of comfort, hope and the power to carry on and find peace. To end on a happier note – With all that going on, today it’s also Tim Quinn’s birthday. The man who is one of the reasons why things are going so extremely well for us lately. Let’s throw some confetti in the air! Love ya! Mona & Lisa youtube/watch?v=iPzUcGPAtR0
