Today was Mom Porters 79th birthday! She doesnt have a facebook page or a cell phone for that matter. But I wanted to honor her today anyway. She is an incredible woman of God who continues to love people and serve the Lord in any way she can. She has always been a faithful letter writer, keeping people posted on the details of everyday life that warm the heart. She still cuts out Sunday School curriculum to continue to be a part of a ministry she taught in for decades and loves to help at the missionary circle meetings. She still makes up goody bags on special occasions for grandkids and great-grandkids alike that bring them joy. She makes a wonderful chocolate chip cookie and banana muffin that she loves to share! Mom Porters greatest contribution to all of our lives is prayer. I will never forget when she broke her hip years ago and nobody was home to help her for awhile...she was upstairs and the phone was downstairs. She dragged herself downstairs and unable to actually reach the phone stopped in front of some pictures she had of family and friends and began to pray for each one until help came. She lost her husband at an early age and a decade later her son, both to cancer. She is also a cancer survivor. The kids call her Ninja Grandma because she seems unstoppable. Really, it is her faith in and love for her Lord and Savior which is unstoppable. She is beloved by all of us....kids, married into the family kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and friends near and far. Today I want to praise the Lord for her impact on all of our lives and the legacy of love and faithfulness she continues to build. Happy Birthday Mom Porter! YOU ARE LOVED!
