Today was a day I had been waiting for since that that fateful day - TopicsExpress

Today was a day I had been waiting for since that that fateful day in June when Deputy Ryan Funke did what he did to me. MVA on Hwy 35 today, gasoline tanker truck with pup Vs. small car. Fortunately minor injuries and only one transported. Alas, guess who was one of the responding Lake Co. deputies...Mr Funke! Today I was on the fire side and am wearing my glasses, so, no glossy eyes! ;) I worked side by side with him, tearing off the door by hand, cutting out the side curtain airbags, working with the EMS in securing the pt. As I was wrapping up a man wandered on to the scene, who didnt clear it with law enf. and started taking photos. It is NEVER good to have people wander into a shut down scene. If something bad happens, the responsibility falls back on us as first responders. An MHP officer commanded, nicely the first two times, to leave the scene immediately. After he refused to comply the third time, the man was placed into custody. The guy lost his MIND! He was placed in the back of deputy Funkes patrol unit. I was right there when it happened and when it was all over, I walked over to the MHP officer, told him if he needed a witness to what happened, that I would vouch for him and I handed him a card. The look on Deputy Funkes face when he saw it was me that he was laughing, joking, and working with side by side and that was coming to the defense of an MHP officer was priceless! I smirked and walked away. Point - Verworn!
