Today was a day that was long anticipated in our home. It was our local JDRF Walk for a Cure. It is something we, and so many other families hope for every day. A cure for Type 1 Diabetes. This year our team raised over $700 towards research! We had donations and support from far and wide. I was especially touched by the support of my step-brother Dan Shipley who drove over 700 miles from Baltimore,MD to walk with us!!! I was also impressed by a high school classmate Leah who selflessly donated. Add to that ALL our friends and family who also showed their support, I think its safe to say we all felt your love today. Thank you for coming out today: Patricia Shipley, Dean Shipley, Wanda Garrett, Whitney Risner Cpst who joined us with her son Aiden, despite working the previous night shift! Leslie Garrett who is already developing plans for next year. Amanda Shipley Hobbs, along with Matildas cousins Avery, Addie and Junie. Shelby Watson, Matildas dear friend for over 8 years! DAD teams Mac and Deb Holmes as well as the Elizabeth Nelson Alderson family. Then there were also additional long distance donations from: Jeanie Luby Illian, Frank Lasser, and Donna Wysock. Today this song seems so befitting: This is where the rubber meets the road This is where the cream is gonna rise This is what you really didnt know This is where the truth dont lie You find out who your friends are Somebodys gonna drop everything Run out and crank up their car Hit the gas, get there fast Never stop to think Whats in it for me? Or Its way too far They just show on up With their big ol heart You find out who your friends are... youtu.be/JREouTHpyJE
