Today was a good day. It was a warm, muggy morning, which made walking a little difficult. I was very grateful for such breezes as came along. I walked out to a gray dawn, and the streetlights were still on, all along the way out and back. There was a pair of ducks gliding across the lake at the first inlet and a heron on the bank. It was somewhat smaller than the birds I often see. I wondered whether it might be an adolescent or actually a Little Heron as opposed to a Great Blue. The little brown bunny was alone on its familiar lawn and took off quickly as I approached. I looked around for Mama and Papa, but they were nowhere to be found. The bunny was back on the lawn when I returned from the little gazebo and again took off as I approached. The ability to sense danger and respond rapidly is a wonderful protective mechanism. The Goose family seemed to be moored at the edge of the lake beyond the big gazebo. They hadn’t really started their morning activities. One more glimpse of a fleeing little bunny as I approached the first inlet on my way home completed the wildlife sightings. It was a very quiet morning. The words of Psalm 113:1-4 kept running through my mind. Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, Praise the name of the LORD. 2 Blessed be the name of the LORD From this time forth and forever. 3 From the rising of the sun to its setting The name of the LORD is to be praised. 4 The LORD is high above all nations; His glory is above the heavens. Many years ago I learned these verses as they had been put to music. What a great way that is to memorize scripture! As we go into a Happy New Day, let’s consider the music we listen to and whether it is something we want to have living permanently in our minds.
