Today was a mix of just the best day and the worst day. It was a great meeting early on with the folks at CO Workforce who will be working with us and together well be teaching and coaching kids in a variety of things like movie making, art, video editing, photography, etc.). Before that Joe and I picked up 2 shelves and a filing cabinet donated to PH (thank you Teresa Trujillo). Then at 3:00 pm I went over to clean Glens bathroom & kitchen and help straighten papers, as hes not been well. I arrived to find him laying on the floor of the kitchen where he had been since 6:30 am. He had managed to pull the phone off the hook but didnt have the strength to dial 911. After calling 911 an ambulance arrived within 5 minutes. It seemed to me that by looking at his face hed had a stroke. I called his son Hal and we met at the hospital where Glen was admitted and awaiting more tests. I will know more tomorrow and have a room number. For those who dont know, Glen is my buddy and has been since the RV rolled into Pueblo June 2012 after Pueblo House was donated. As part of Occupy Pueblo Glen was, and still is, very dedicated to the cause of OWS. His knowledge of all things is amazing and his sense of doing the right thing was always in the forefront. It is because of Glen, his huge heart, his ability to see the vision and an innate amount of trust that there will be a Music & Art Center two doors from the Pueblo House. For all of those who know Glen you can vouch for his kindness & generosity to all of us who were & are part of the PH. Recently he was scammed by a couple people who took advantage of his good nature. He decided (through referral) to give 2 people (he thought had wanted to turn their lives around) a chance to redeem themselves in exchange hed provide room & board for free if they would be there for him. Well, the guy (Joe) replaced two doors and a fender on a written-off car Glen bought from the neighbor (I think because he told Glen he was a mechanic) then charged him a ridiculous amount. At the same time he wanted Glen to pay $600 to get a business started. Glen had only known him maybe 2 weeks. The guy then said Glen owed him a truck for fixing the wreck of a car Glen probably not bought in the first place. Then the lady Shawna (who apparently was his girlfriend at one point although he denied it until found to be true) showed up within days saying she had no place to live. She then stole Glens deceased wifes old bank checks and forged 12 around town within a couple days. That is how his kindness was repaid! When Glen became ill with cold & flu this guy didnt think about Glens health, but rather made him drive to the bank where he conned $1000 out him to fore-go the truck. Im outing him because I think they are both disgusting and there is a reason they were in jail. I do believe in 2nd chances and some deserve it. But there are those who will trample their grannies for a dollar. All Glen wanted was someone living in his house who would be there in an emergency. Glen was a very independent person so he didnt ask for much. Let it be known that I blame them for Glens stroke and I will never forgive or forget what they did. They stole my best friends spirit!
