Today was a pretty monumental day for me. As I posted - TopicsExpress

Today was a pretty monumental day for me. As I posted earlier, I attended the hip hop for a cure event in support of Miles for Melanoma. As I listened to the speakers before the event I felt touched. Then the high school student that lost her mom to this cancer spoke. It really made me feel lucky to be alive! When I say this I just want to share something that not everyone knows about me. Almost 2 years ago I was diagnosed with this cancer. The many years of trying to have that tan for such a white girl had its consequences. Sunscreen is not optional, its mandatory!! The day I found out was more of a shock and left me just numb. I remember being scared of what to do if I decided to be treated or not. What was going to be the outcome?? So many thoughts and questions for Im glad I made the decision I did even with scars to prove it. I am alive to share my life with my family and friends that much longer. I cant imagine if I would have just sat back and let nature take its course. I have enjoyed being a mom and grandma so much so far I am going to keep living!! This makes life so much sweeter when its threatened to be taken away
