Today was a rough start. this morning Raylans blood gasses kept - TopicsExpress

Today was a rough start. this morning Raylans blood gasses kept getting worse and worse. They decided to keep him on the paralytic until we could figure it out. They decided to do an echocardiogram and than a bronchoscopy. The echo showed his pulmonary artery on his left side, pushing on his airway, which is causing him to breathe harder because his airway is so small. This occurred from him having the absent pulmonary valve. They will have to talk with his heart surgeon to see if/when to go in an do surgery to fix that. He is on nitrous oxide to help try to reduce the blood flow in that artery. They also took some respiratory cultures from the bronch because it look like he has an infection in there. He is on antibiotics for that and we should know those results hopefully in a couple days. They put his longer trach in today as well. He is still on the paralytic and we will just have to see how the night goes to decide when to try taking him off that. That is all I have for today, once we talk with his surgeon Ill let you know more! Our family showed up today for thanksgiving and the rest will be here Friday! So everyone have a good turkey day tomorrow :)
