Today was a wonderful day at school despite not sleeping and you know..Im still not sleepy lol. Kids were great today and did what I asked of them. I love the relationship I have with these kids, one of the students said me, You are the greatest..you dont yell at us. I told him, You do what I ask of you so there is no need to yell at you or anyone. For that I thank you. Its all about the way you present yourself..this isnt a battle, its simply asking, I need you to do this for me, for your teacher. Done. There was no complaining or excuses they just did it..I THINK THAT IS AWESOME!!! Wonderful, wonderful day!!! And when I rode the school bus to the middle school, one of the other aides yelled, since when did you become a student?? I told her I was gonna walk home, and she said home??? I said, yes. She thought I lived in Lamar..lol I told her I was a lifer, she goes, How did I miss that?. Funny, how you can live here all your life and people seem to think you are from out of town. Little neighbor boy just rang the bell, he has lost a ball in my yard and asked if I had found it yet? I was certain he was pulling a trick because he would run to the other boys hiding and just laugh. Today I caught him off guard. I told him..I am sorry sweetie, I had to work at the school today, I had to play teacher. I will try to find you a baseball here later. Once his mouth shut and he loosened that OMG grip on his eyes, he told me than that he would be right there and pointed to the house. He is just little enough that it was obvious he respected the teacher status. Again, you dont have to be a teacher at his school, to find that there a lot of kids who fear the ground you walk on...lol Its a shame, that it takes so much work to remove the fear and replace with respect, but I am working on it. One child at a time!!!
