Today was an extremely difficult day for me as veteran. Coming out - TopicsExpress

Today was an extremely difficult day for me as veteran. Coming out of the store today I noticed a homeless man with a cardboard sign. He had his old military ID taped to it. This man (who will remain nameless) was someone I served with in Iraq in 2005. It broke my heart to see someone I knew from my time in service now asking for help this way. While he did not remember me, I definitely remember him. I have seen many homeless vets, but very few from my era. This is the only homeless vet I have come across that I personally knew. I am not asking for politicized debate on this topics or a topic on drug use. After giving him every dollar I had on me, I truly felt anger towards the system that is in place for former member of the armed services. I think we can all agree that our veterans programs are not up an appropriate and fair standard. **please feel free to not add any comments that are jokes. I would also greatly appreciate no comments about how its the individuals fault. You dont know him, so dont judge him.
