Today was an incredibly awesome day. Today my neurosurgeon not only confirmed that I definitely will not need to have surgery on my neck, but I can actually start weaning myself off the neck brace! And by the end of the month I will be driving again! This came pretty unexpectedly as I was just going in for a check up, with xrays before my appointment, anticipating positive news but still needing to come back at the end of the month for what I hoped would be a final appt regarding my neck. The xrays looked so good she asked if I had time to go over to imaging and get a quick CT scan, then come back and go over the results with her. Of course I had time! And when does medicine EVER move so efficiently? The news was FANTASTIC and I learned my two neck fractures have fully healed with no long term complications expected at all. Thursday is my birthday and I could never have asked for any better gift than this. Although the recovery is not over and I will still have to move slow, this is a huge milestone. My life is so amazing. I feel blessed beyond words tonight!
