Today was another amazing day! Thank you St Therese for shining down upon Renee and passing on yet again what she needed. First off the tour of Magee was outstanding. What a beautiful place. The staff where so friendly, state of the art equipment. I cannot say enough for an initial tour. The rooftop with the green house was beautiful. Amazing how they have so many intricate things to get people some of their fine motor skills back. Renee slept most of the day but the surgeon came in to check on her. I took a photo of him and I and will upload soon. He said she was making great progress. Now for the great news. Renee passed her test for swallowing! YES! I was very worried she may not today. They started her with ice chips then apple sauce. She had done well enough that they had given her a small piece of soft graham cracker, again she did well and took her time and handled it. The tech said at this time she was going to recommend a soft diet with thicker liquids starting tonight. I smiled so big for her I felt like laughing. I was so happy for her. The nose tube only has to remain in place for a short time just to make sure all goes well with the soft food diet and that she eats. After the tech left I was allowed to feed her some more applesauce and more juice. Those moments where something again I will never forget, this baby step will never be forgotten. Thank you god for another miracle day! Here is to tomorrow.
