Today was another one of those days that are hard to beat! Pitcairn Island--home of the Bounty mutineers was our destination today. We got up at about 6 am to workout and watch for the island to appear out of the sea. Finally there it was--a 2 square mile rock that Fletcher Christian chose as home for his Bounty mutineers and a few Tahitians who joined in his little misadventure. Since the island is so rocky, instead of us landing, 35 islanders came aboard to sell souvenirs, and Christian’s granddaughter 7 times removed gave a presentation of the history and present situation on the island. Too many facts to reveal here. Only about 50 people currently live there, BUT immigrants are welcome---so if you want to get away from it all, this is definitely the place. A fascinating day indeed!
