Today was bittersweet. Thinking about a classmate as he was laid to rest while I spent the day driving to a far west county and to the reservation to visit two ailing senior volunteers. One is 94 and up til a few weeks ago was still volunteering as a foster grandparent. The other one in her 80s and had to retire due to a cancer reoccurrence. They may not remain amongst the living within the next week. It was very sobering to have the experiences of knowing a classmate left us with no awareness of leaving and the seniors knowing they had a long happy life but oblivious to the living surrounding them in love. It is days like this that I truly miss my loved ones, make a point to tell those I love that I do and to pray for all of us to have the common sense to live in the moment and celebrate the present.
