Today was definitely the worse horror and fear a mother could or should ever go through. I am writing this in hopes someone may prepare for it. It isnt something to learn from, because one would never have seen this coming. Ayden my youngest went to an acquaintances house this afternoon for a play date while I ran out for a couple errands This family has a pit bull that was locked up in the bedroom because he was a bit wild and he is a big dog, so he was put away so he wouldnt get involved with the kids, scratch them, or interfere with their very anticipated play date. Obviously, I saw the dog, and the mom said she had them for a long time and she has three children that have been raised with it 10, 7 and 6 so everyone would assumed being raised around three children the dog would be a kid friendly, family loving dog. I have seen so many post lately that say Pit Bulls are great and they have a bad wrap. All I can say is today Ayden was attacked by the Pit Bull and the entire scene was horrible. An hour and a half into the play date I got the call. Ayden was rushed to hospital, and had stitches luckily in his head(scalp) and not his face, but it was a huge, I mean huge 7 x 2 gash down to the bone. He also got stitches on his nose. The 6 year old girl accidentally opened the locked door while Ayden and her were playing. The kids were all running around playing and being loud as kids all do. This Pit Bull took this playing as if Ayden was a threat and that he was going to hurt the girl and viciously attacked him. If your friends have dogs that are especially Pit Bulls due to their protective nature, but my option is any dog, dont allow them in that house PERIOD. Dogs are so very protective of the little ones and we as humans do not know what will set them off. The dog thought he was doing the right thing, the mom should have defiantly had the dog locked up better where no one had access, and that lack of thinking it wasnt worth the precaution and the not knowing is exactly why I decided to write about this to everyone publicly I knew. This day could have winded up going a completely different route and a Medical Examiner may have been called. No one thought this would have ever happened. It was the first time in almost 9 months I had ever let my baby go anywhere without me except for school and his after school programs. As you can imagine I was a HOT MESS ( we wont ever go to the extent of how bad) so please dont be offended if you werent called or notified about this, it was just a very draining, insane and emotional day and I didnt want a thousand phone calls explaining things 1000 times, so I am letting you all know at once. We didnt get back from hospital until late and its been a very long day. He is stitched up and resting now. He was an incredibly brave boy at the hospital, much, much better than his mommie who feel to complete pieces. I hope this post helps someone realize even if dogs are raised around children if an outside child comes in the home they may turn this quick if the children are playing and running around in fear of threat to his family. Doctor said it could be a chihuahua. She said she has seen major damage from that small of a dog. So even though she said Pitts are very possessive, any dog can be protective in this magnitude.Mom and Dad have had a hell of a long day. WoW!!! who would have imagined this day would have ended up as it did, the day from utter hell.
