Today was fun. I bowled in the morning with Ben Faiman and Markus - TopicsExpress

Today was fun. I bowled in the morning with Ben Faiman and Markus Woltjer. Then, after lunch, I walked around town to see what there was to see. I walked through Memorial Park and while I was alone for most of the day, everything was peaceful. It reminded me of a lesson Thoreau taught me and many of my friends. There is a difference between loneliness and solitude. Solitude means you are alone but left alone to your thoughts and are thinking deeply and feel a sense of purpose. I do not mind being alone sometimes if it allows me to feel the peace I felt today. Deep in the bowels of the Memorial Park forest, I saw peaceful, quiet activity, that brought back memories of the times I had been through there since I was but half my size and age; how everything looked, where everything was, what purpose it had in terms of the context of the universe and time and things to come. I then realized that those trees that have been there for years are a reminder for us to stand tall forever after until our time is done and not let ourselves be defeated by those that mean us harm. The growing plants are a symbol of growth in individuals do to influence from the environment. The river water describes the depths of our souls and our complexity as individuals and cosmic children of this mathematical universe stretching to infinity and beyond. Most importantly, the small town of Wilsonville represents closeness of community and how much people know one another and it represents essentially one large extended family. Solitude is not bad, as it has the capability to enhance our understanding of ourselves and everything around us. Loneliness is bad as it can destroy our self esteem, and in a manner of speaking, our lives. There must be social activity as well, but one must occasionally be in a state of solitude as it will help them mature. Thoreau was a wise figure, but some would argue he was too wise. Reece out.
