Today was home improvement day! We hauled half of a pear tree to the city yard waste dump. Sorry I forgot to take a photo of the load, but here is the tree before Carl Homstad cut it up in movable chunks. The tree was only 15 years old, but it had a deep split that had evidently been there for quite a while. While we were hauling the half a pear (still have a pear and a half standing), Brian Betteridge was turning my drawing that I have been working on all summer into a new post for our new mail box. He used materials that I had, including some from Steven Havens and Linda Mortensen Havens, left over from their new deck. Boy! Was that fast! AndI love it! It has a solar light on the top and a shelf that fits a clay planter that I had perfectly! We used my Dads old post-hole digger to dig the hole. Exactly what I imagined! Recycle, re-use, reduce!
