Today was my follow-up visit to St. John to see if the radiation - TopicsExpress

Today was my follow-up visit to St. John to see if the radiation treatment had worked and had killed my brain tumor.Things didnt turn out as expected. The tumor has actually grown 2.2 centimeters since my last MRI and it is probably still alive. There are some variables that come into play that could mean the treatments did work. For one, the area in my head where the tumor is located is in great pain. This could be because the tumor is actually still dying and is swollen and inflamed. That could be the reason it is larger. On the other hand, the pain could be caused by the actively growing tumor killing more areas of my brain. Dr. Gilbert said that without actually opening my head up, there isnt anyway to tell. It also appears that more damage was done to my brain that first thought. He wants to see me in 3 months if SoonerCare will allow it. It is very rare for two 3 month follow ups and they are likely not to want to pay so we are prepared for a fight. If, in 3 months, the tumor hasnt grown anymore, then things will be ok. If it continues to grow, things are going to get really scary for me. I know that God is in control of this situation and I lean on Him for strength and guidance. God knows how this chapter of my life is going to end and whatever the future holds for me, I am ready to face it. I know all of you have been with me on this ride since I found out about the tumor in December of last year. I was hoping to have good news for you today but things dont always work out the way you expect. I ask those of you who will to continue helping me fight this battle. God Bless all of you who choose to stand by my side as I fight this terrible disease. ~Gregg
