Today was not exactly the best day of the week. Weather wise it was beautiful, but that is the calm before the storm, since tomorrow we return to winter once again. Lana had an appointment to get her comadin level read at 2, then I was just going to stop in at my regular doctors office to have my second PPD test read. Earlier today, I canceled my oncology appointment for Tuesday since I was supposed to have surgery on my elbow that day. I did talk to my oncologists nurse and told her I wanted a few things done like ASAP, and she totally agreed with me, so, we are on the same track there. Then, my regular docs nurse called and said you need a pre-op clearance before Tuesday, and I said he already did that, and she said well its not in his notes! Now Im beginning to boil, never a good thing. So, went to his office to get the PPD read, which was negative of course, and then the shit hit the fan! My friendly doc said you cant have surgery until Ive cleared you, and I said you already did, and then it became a bit more tangled. My Senior Naval Officer persona was about to come out in full force sailor form, but I reconsidered and bit my tongue and a few other things. Lana gave me the chill out look, and I behaved nicely, well, for me anyway! Many pats on the back and kindly grabbing of the arm, with the promise that all will work out by my friendly doctor who I will see again on Monday with a cooler head, MAYBE! Then we had to go back to Northbrook to pick up Lanas computer at the Apple Store, and by now its after 4 and traffic is building for the Friday night commute back to the burbs from the city. We take route 60 West to get to St Marys Road north to get back home, but traffic is like bumper to bumper so I took a somewhat circuitous route to by pass all the traffic. There is and east/west road named Old School Road, that intersect with St Marys about four blocks from where we live. This would be in Metawa, which just happens to be the wealthiest hamlet in the entire state of Illinois. Dont you just know, the lovely folks that live there, and mind you, they are my neighbors, had a law passed that Monday thru Friday, between 4 and 6, it is illegal to make a right turn onto St Marys Road. This to cut down on the traffic going by their multimillion dollar estates. Guess what, I didnt know that, and yes, that would be right, the nice officer followed me into my driveway and gave me a citation for making an illegal right turn between the hours of 4 and 6! You have to know, if Id been a pressure cooker, my top would have blown off right on the spot! On a totally different note, I heard that a dear member of our extended family, who just turned 90 like a week ago, fell, and broke the head of her femur and will be having surgery ASAP. She is a dear lady, with whom Lana and I share Grandchildren, so, if you find it in your heart to say an extra prayer, I would be most appreciative. Nothing more, and Ive about cooled back down to normal, well almost anyway, so NITE ALL!
