Today was of those days, meaning I worked on this script for about 18 hours, literally, I was up at about 4:30am, and just started working, I was literally dreaming about Esther, Saint, Jamaal and Queen when I got up this morning, and so I went right to work, then I took a break at about 9:30am to go run, came home to shower and eat, and then got back on it, and worked until now, its about 10:45pm, and the story of Brooklyn Quartet gets deeper and deeper, and more and more complicated, with more and more questions and challenges, and layers, and so today was one of those days where I feel like I made a brand new commitment to this work, which I do from time to time, I make a new contract with myself and the story every once in a while, just to keep myself on my toes, just to keep myself on the edge, to make sure Im not settling, or being lazy, and so, I am really looking forward to the next 6 weeks of preparation for Seattle and LA, I plan on taking this to the next level, whatever that means for me, I am always trying to push the ceiling out and make more space for myself to grow, and so the next month and a half is all about that, Im just a little bit more of everything right about now, more focused, more diligent, more meticulous, more open, more vulnerable, more willing, more confident, more determined, while also being just a little bit less of a few things, as well, mostly a little bit less controlling, and a little bit less absolute with this work, if that makes any sense. I guess all I know is this; that I am grateful for the opportunity to evolve, and then to be able to share Brooklyn Quartet, and so, this is gonna be an awesome summer, a summer of some great opportunities and collaborations, and I am so excited that July is here. Im ready. Brooklyn Quartet, directed by Stephen Bishop Seely, here we come!!!
