Today was one of highs and lows. Our daughter, Evie, ended up in the emergency room after having a febrile seizure (her third one in three years) and she did not come out of it for a long time. Then, after watcher her with tubes in her arms and sleeping so soundly that she couldnt wake up for the doctor without us all but yelling her name, we return home and needed to remind her not to jump and run around the house. What a swing! We settled down by watching Finding Nemo together before bed and that film was never as poignant as it was tonight. In the middle of all of todays madness, I received a wonderful phone call from a former grad student who told me that she was her districts rookie of the year (the district is a large one on the outskirts of Houston, TX). The call was a welcome one in light of todays events. I am glad the day is ending on a better note than it started and that my five year old will sleep soundly tonight.
