Today was one of those days that managed to be both really fun and really stupid. Jason drove me out to Malibu so I could meet with one of my mentors, the former Chief of Staff for Arnold Schwarzenegger. We had an hour of free time beforehand, so we decided to rent a kayak and go sea kayaking (for the first time ever for both of us...) It was lots of fun, we saw fish and stayed pretty dry and took selfies, but then when we headed back we got wiped out by a huge wave ten feet from shore and got spit out totally soaked, with our phones in our pockets. It was fun! But our phones no longer worked. So I went and met with my mentor at the Malibu Beach Hotel all sopping wet and sandy, and I told her our story and she loved it (and also reaffirmed a lot of things Ive been thinking up to this point, and also gave me some excellent advice.) I thought our phones were savable so we went to the Apple Store. Of course there was a two hour wait, so we waited at Barnes and Noble (and futilely missed marching band practice) until they could get someone to see us. And then it turned out the phones were so thoroughly soaked as to be wholly unsalvageable. But, I got a new book, got some expert advice, and had fun on the water. You win some, you lose some.
