Today was one of those days that started off all wrong. I got to - TopicsExpress

Today was one of those days that started off all wrong. I got to the dock early and got everything ready and was surprised when I stepped on the boat and the auto bilge went off. I blew it off and thought it was probably just about full and just started it and warmed up the motor. I saw my group in the parking lot and told them to come on down when I saw my bilge kick on again. Lifted the engine hatch and saw water going everywhere. I located the problem pretty quickly as the fresh water impeller housing was cracked and was leaking like a sieve. I closed off the valve and told David Mitchell that I was sorry but Id have to find someone else to take him. He reminded me that his wife was only going because of the big boat with a potty. I told him I would do my best but it was gonna be a couple hours to make the repair. It took about two hours and fifteen minutes but I got it going and off we went. Called a couple buddys who said we really hadnt missed much and the blue bird day and zero wind werent helping. Got to my first spot and first cast we caught a 12 lb Striper. It was slow though and we had 3 young boys that wanted to catch. They hung in there for me though and we had caught about ten fish when I spotted some birds working. We probably boated another 15 fish or so under the birds during the last hour or so and made a great trip out of it. Biggest fish was about 15lbs and we let her go and kept only 11 fish today up to 12 lbs. All the fish we caught today were over the 20 mark except for two. Big thanks to David and Jennifer for hanging in there and waiting for me. It all worked out and all the boys caught some really nice size stripers. It was a bad start but wound up being a great day on Lake Texoma. Im headed to the deer woods to take my boy hunting for a few days so Ill see yall next week. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
