Today was rabies vaccination day! Six dogs. I loaded up Keeper, my big lab boy from Smith County, Fara, my lab/pittie from Odessa and Jessa, old style Catahoula from Smith County into the back seat and leashed them to either side of the doors. I put Ezra and BeBe, very very senior Chis from cruelty case in Saginaw together with Littleman, very senior Chi from Mesquite into a crate in the front seat. Littleman pitched a little tantrum at having to share the crate so I took him out and he rode in my lap. Miracle that not one threw up! Arrived at the vet just as he left for lunch. Ugh. Spent an hour inside an examination room with the kids waiting. They loved all the loving as we passed the time. Ezra and BeBe had very reluctant proctologies and expressed anals. They had been sleeping with their back legs standing, their butts in the air and chests on the beds. Looked so uncomfortable to me so hopefully this will resolve it. Came home with Rimadyl to use occasionally for their arthritis. Began to load up with Fara in first. No problem. Keeper got to the car and bolted dragging me along in the gravel for a few feet. He is a very big boy so it was a rodeo but I managed by using an old country method of turning his tail and in he went! Whew!. Jessa and Fara were perfect. Guess I will be spending time loading and unloading Keeper until he learns to relax. Felt good to have the October ones done, but I bet my elbow, sprained thumb and neck will be sore tomorrow. LOL Some passersby were giving the crazy dog lady a few stares at all those big dogs in the back seat. Oh, well. They are missing some great love!
