Today was standing room only for the GACC Protest Meeting - Stand Up Against Gatwick Expansion. The Apple Tree Centre in Crawley was full of residents, from near and far, all opposing the building of a second runway at Gatwick. Air Hostesses opened the event with a health a safety briefing of how residents would be waving fists at them as they flew on new flight paths off a new runway and how Gatwick advertisement would require the sick bag to be used obviously and if the airport flooded again please use breast stroke! The MPs from around the area spoke to huge applause of how Gatwick will destroy the environment and the economy. How it will demand huge investment in the infrastructure of which there is no funding. How Gatwick will call upon huge inward migration of workers to fulfil jobs, low skilled jobs, as described by the Airport Commission, will demand workers to migrate in looking for affordable housing, hospitals, schools, etc. Those present said No No No time and again and sang the Anti Gatwick song loud, which included a verse about sending Stewart Wingate to China with a one way ticket! Thank you to all that came, you made it very clear to GACC that we have your support and to all the MPs present and councillor, and we are sure a few spies from Gatwick, that the local communities Do No Want a Second Runway At Gatwick!
