Today was the 2014 Carson Relay for Life WRAP IT UP dinner for the Team Captains. This was my first time ever forming a team. This team was formed in honor of my mother Alana Joyce Walker-Winbush aka Nonnie who I lost to cancer this March. My mother participated every year from 2003 with the exception of 2013 due to her health decline, as a cancer survivor until Jesus called her home before my eyes in my home on Monday, March 24, 2014. Now I see half the reason why my mother was so excited to participate only she was celebrating all the years she had survived but for me it brought me HOPE for tomorrow, rememberance and an opportunity to help someone else fighting like my mother did for so long. Losing my mother has been the hardest thing for me EVER. She truly was my ROCK! I miss her like CRAZY! This relay gave me an opportunity to memorialize my mother once again in a place that was very dear to her heart! Before my mother passed she had no idea Id continue this relay for her and I did just that! I know shes smiling down from heaven with thanks and thats what keeps me going!!! I got to do it again every year for my mother... she meant that much to me as a matter of fact... she meant the world to me! A special thanks goes out all that helped me form this team and an extra special thanks to ALL who donated... thank you!!!! Team GRAMMY AJWW raised over $1700 (exceeded initial $500 goal-PRAISE GOD)... WOW!!! Thank you so much and God bless you all!
