Today was the closing ceremony of RSPN’s Pakistan Domestic Biogas Programme (PDBP) here in Islamabad. Over the last six years, with support from the Kingdom of the Netherlands, SNV and Winrock International, the programme has successfully built over 5,300 biogas plants which have benefited nearly 43,000 people and generated employment for 1,400 locals in 12 districts of central Punjab. In addition to this, PDBP has contributed to the sustainability of the biogas sector in Pakistan by establishing 50 local biogas construction companies and training 450 masons according to international standards.
