Today was the first day of the rest of my life.....it marked the beginning of my 55th year on this earth, a journey I look forward to...one filled with fear, one filled with hope, one filled with tears, one filled with laughter....it was a weekend of mixed blessings, as members of my extended family was forced to bid adieu to one that they loved and cherished, gone from this earth far to soon, a mere child of 20, others experienced the joy of welcoming a new son, a new brother, a new husband, into their world, a very joyous occasion for all those who welcome this fine young man into the midst of our chaotic world and lives....another went missing for a short time, causing all who love him to be afraid if just for a few days, and all who love him to rejoice when he was found safe and sound, unaware even that he had been lost, but grateful to learn that even when gone for just a little while, he was missed and loved and very much a needed, vital part of this family..perhaps a reassurance that he needed....all these events serve to remind me how precious each moment of life can be, how we should never take any one or any thing for granted, how we should treasure each and every second we spend with another, whether it be a child, a parent, a sibling, an aunt or an uncle, a cousin, a neighbor or a friend, and never take them for granted..that we should start each day with a prayer of gratitude that God has given us the opportunity to start a new day, a new beginning with those we love and cherish, and that we should end each day with a prayer of gratitude that God has allowed us the opportunity to spend one more day with those we love and cherish...we must never forget to count our blessings, and should never let the opportunity to tell those in our hearts and lives just how much we love them, how much we depend upon them, how much we appreciate them, and how lost we would be without them.....so for me, I say it now, to my children...not only those I give birth to, but to those I have adopted, those that came to me through marriage, those that I have fostered in one way or another...I love you all with all my heart and soul, and I pray for you all, and ask God to keep you all safe, and guide you all through life, a life hopefully filled with all the joy, love and laughter than one can possibly bare, to the siblings, my Dad, nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and all loved ones, I wish these same things for each and every one of you....and may we all journey through this world together..God Bless Each and Every One of You.....together you all make life worthwhile, and I am happy and blessed to have each of you in my life.
