Today was the opening ceremony of the Winter Fest organised by Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. The aim of having a Winter Fest is to attract more tourists during the winter season. We want tourists to come to Darjeeling throughout the year. Our Party is committed to keep peace and stability in this region to attract more tourists in this region. I also distributed 100 cheques of first instalment of Rs 80 thousand to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) people who have been selected from 6 GTA constituencies of Darjeeling for constructing a 3 room house under GTAs project of Hamro Ghar. The cheques for the Hamro Ghar is directly given to the mother of the family and the GTA will monitor and evaluate the scheme before releasing the second instalment funds. I will distribute another set of Hamro Ghar cheques at Mirik, Manju, Krishi Mela, Jogighat and Relli in the following weeks. The Hamro Ghar scheme was announced in September 2014 and under this scheme the GTA plans to build about 1000 houses for the low-income group in the 45 constituencies of GTA.
