Today we are going to switch gears a bit with regard to our facts. Instead of learning about PWS the disorder we are going to learn some facts about the PWS organizations available to help individuals with PWS and their families. Fact #1: Most PWS organizations are run by a group of individuals who donate their time throughout the year to help support, educate, and advocate for individuals with PWS and their families. For example, PWSA-WI, Inc. has a board of directors that consists of volunteers. In addition, the organization has a volunteer education & training consultant as well as one paid employee who also donates time above and beyond her scheduled hours. Fact #2: Most PWS organizations operate thanks to donations from generous individuals who believe in the organizations mission. In addition, these organizations operate thanks to fundraising initiatives held throughout the year. For example, this upcoming weekend PWSA-WI, Inc. is hosting its 4th Annual On the Move event which is focused on spreading awareness and raising funds. Fact #3: Most PWS organizations are always looking for volunteers to help with various activities throughout the year. In addition, these organizations are always looking for ways to cut costs and bring in more funds.
