Today, we, as a nation, are suffering from hours of power outage, shortage of CNG, Water crisis, falling economy, inflation and an overall move towards stone age but it’s no one else’s fault but ours. Aren’t we tolerating drone attacks since years now? Did we speak up when two young boys were brutally killed on a Sialkot street? Has the lawlessness prevailing in Karachi jolted us into action? Did the falling planes, earthquakes and burning bodies teach us something? No, Not a bit. Rather we are proud of being a front line state in war against terror. We are satisfied with transference of goods to American soldiers from our home land, for killing our own brothers. We are silent because we are safe yet. Our homes haven’t been blown, and our mothers and wives are safely at home with us. However, Allah is testing or rather shaking us every day of our life, sometimes through electricity shortage or sometimes through strained relations. Everything’s not well. So what do we have to do? If we start living our lives in the obedience of our Almighty creator (that means no cheating, no corruption, no fraud, no killing of innocents, no mocking at others, no setting up of partners with Allah and doing that which is good with sincerity) we can regain our lost glory. Let’s change, and decide to mould our lives according to Islam rather than fooling ourselves, day in and day out. May Allah guide us all to the straight path, ameen. Courtesy Sohail Anjum.
