Today, we attended an Infant Loss Remembrance Ceremony and Reception at Barnes Jewish Hospital where Allison was born. 2 of the most important nurses in my journey were there helping with the program, Megan - who delivered Allison and is one of my closest friends, and Chris - who we started our journey with at the very first appointment we had there and who followed through for us from beginning to end. I cant say how AWESOME I think it is that the hospital remembers our angels, and puts effort into showing us how much they care by having services like this. We got programs with several amazing poems, that I will share here because I think many of you would really enjoy them. We got to decorate star ornaments for our little ones, and enjoy cookies and refreshments and hear other peoples stories about their angels. I have terrible stage fright, so I wasnt one who got up and shared, but maybe after going to a few, I will be able to. Each one of us lit a candle for our babies, and were allowed to bring those candles home to light any time we want. I know I will light mine often, the next time being on Allisons 10 month birthday on Tuesday. I absolutely enjoyed myself, surrounding myself with many other angel moms and dads, angel grandparents, angel aunts and uncles and even just angel friends. I had a wonderful angel Grandma who was asking me questions about Olivia, and how she handles it all, and about Allison and her life. I met an angel mom who has been pregnant 4 times, and lost 5 babies - she never got to bring a baby home. Her strength and her eloquence when she spoke was beautiful to see. Overall, it was a great day. Barnes offers this service once every six months, the next being in April. If you are ever interested in going, just to celebrate the life of your angel or to be around other people who get it please let me know! I will post an album of the photos I took, and post one of the poems here in a little while!
