Today we bade farewell to a true champion for those less fortunate - TopicsExpress

Today we bade farewell to a true champion for those less fortunate in our community with a service in memory of Liz Dawson. Liz was a social worker and tireless advocate for women and the homeless in Canberra. Through her involvement in social work, the Salvation Army and as founder of Common Ground Canberra, Liz’s example stands as a testament that a life of purpose can change the lives of countless others for the better. Liz had an extraordinary capacity borne of her deep generosity, warmth and passion to bring together people from all segments of the community, be it government, business or not-for-profit and simply make things happen. Liz has left an indelible mark upon our community through her good works. Through Common Ground Canberra she has bequeathed a legacy that will continue to enrich the lives of others in perpetuity. We are all the poorer for her passing. My sincerest condolences to Liz’s family, friends and all those touched by her life. Below is a video of Liz at a Canberra TedX event speaking with characteristic enthusiasm about her Common Ground Canberra project.
