Today we bid farewell to Engine 1835, the first completely new - TopicsExpress

Today we bid farewell to Engine 1835, the first completely new engine our company ordered in 1990. This truck has served Dennis Township and the surrounding communities well over the last 25 years, and we couldnt have asked for a better truck. We are also extremely happy to see that the truck will be going to a department that can truly use it. Four firefighters from Wolf Creek Fire District - Rhea County Fire Department in Tennessee will depart early tomorrow morning to take the truck to its new home, where it will become the first due apparatus to a rural community. The department is not as fortunate as many of the departments in our area and have an extremely small budget, so thanks to the help of several area departments (Tuckahoe Volunteer Fire Co., Green Creek Fire Company, and Marmora Volunteer Fire Company), we were able to donate a large amount of used equipment for their use. It wasnt that long ago that our fire company was in a similar situation, hard-strapped for cash and relying on the generosity of other area departments to better serve our community. To have the ability to return the favor to our brothers and sisters in Tennessee has been a very gratifying experience for everyone involved. We wish many, many great years of service to Rhea County with an apparatus that has served this community faithfully for more than 20 years.
