Today we broke all our routines. We even had lunch out at VIPS. We planned to go to see the presentation of the Ballet Folclórico de Michoacán at Teatro Ocampo but instead decided to take the combi out to the movies at Plaza Morelia. We saw Pedro Almodóvar´s newest film Los Amantes Pasajeros, and it was brilliant, as are all of his movies. This one is special because of the connection with Mexico. It is about a first-class plane load of passengers and their attendants and pilots who are all pretty kinky in one way or the other (claro, es película del maestro de kink). Several of the directors favorite actors are in the film, including Banderas in a walk on role, and there are several new and wonderful ones, too, especially the ingénue, Blanca Suárez. And it has a very happy ending! We laughed till we cried! It was showing in Cinemex´s wonderful old theater at the mall in which Sala 2 is now exclusively for art films. I presume the movie will be there for two weeks. It opened in Mexico this last Friday. Go see it if you can. We were in the mood for something new and different and folk dancing just wouldn´t have filled the bill like Almodóvar did. Cost a lot more than the ballet but was well worth the price.
