Today we celebrate everybodys favorite avian comic - its National Penguin Awareness Day! Numbering around 20 species or so (theres debate over this) penguins live almost exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere. Often thought of as a cold weather creature a fair amount live in more temperate areas including the Galápagos Islands. There is considerable range in size too, from the Emperor penguin (3 7 and 77 lbs. on average) to the Little Blue Penguin (16 and 2.2 lbs. average).
