Today we celebrate the life and memory of Daniel Joseph Plavsic, Jr., who was known to many of you as Dan, Danny, Big Dan, The Big Guy, Ole High Pockets, Two Story or Stretch. Danny was born, on January 25th, 1960, in Fort Thomas, KY. He is survived by: Parents: father Daniel Joseph Plavsic, I and mother Jean (Johnson) Grissom Wife: Jill Plavsic, married September 27th, 2013 Children: daughter Deven Wilson, son DJ Plavsic, daughter Johnna Wilson, son Robert Wilson and daughter Hope Scoggins and eleven grandchildren Sisters: Katrina Strange, Niki Plavsic, Jennifer Plavsic, Rachel Long, Keturah Plavsic Brother: India Plavsic Graduated from Campbell County High School in 1978 Worked his last 15 years for Royalty Trucking in Sharonville, OH Danny was never a member of any groups or clubs but he was an avid goer of all of the AFR Poker Runs, dating back to the 1980’s. Facts about Danny: • In his adolescence, he was scared of his younger sister Katrina going bat shit crazy mad and would often run off and stay gone for hours to give her time to “cool off”. • Danny had deep aspirations of joining our country’s Air Force but due to a childhood knee injury, he was turned down • He spent time “on the force” serving as a police officer in Falmoth, KY for a year • He was known to many as the “Zoo Keeper” due to his exotic family pets – potbelly pig “Petunia” Komodo Dragon, Snakes, Racoons, Double Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot “ZACK” who (sang and spoke profanities) • Danny played Bass Guitar and had a band named “Wild Child” – DJ said, he didn’t think they ever made it out of the basement • Danny loved Big Hair 80’s Rock & Roll music - His favorite song was “Girls, Girls, Girls” by Motley Crue Danny was the ultimate LEADER OF THE PACK to the many who hung and rode with him. He and Jill are responsible for so many that can look to one another and say that it was a motorcycle ride, event or simple gathering that they arranged that brought everyone together, time and time, again over the years. Danny was LOVED & RESPECTED BY ALL who encountered him. Danny’s presence naturally commanded your respect, without force or effort. He was a very peaceful, simple, easy going kind of man. He knew no stranger. He accepted everybody as they were and as they accepted him. He was a smart man, a deeper thinker than it would often appear but patient and rarely aired his opinion unless solicited. He was often a bit of a grammar/spelling nazi. He loved to make others laugh or smile and always had a quick witt about him. Danny loved his Harley, riding and the lifestyle, his sweet tea and BOOBIES! Oh, and online shopping for motorcycle parts! He loved his children, grandchildren, family and friends, pets Thor, Zack and Panther, much all in the same. He was cherished and adored, honored and respected by so very many. He was notorious, dare I say, infamous in his ability to make a fool outta anyone’s folly! He loved taking the liberty in little moments of getting his kicks & giggles. Nobody was exempt, in fact, it was those closest to him that he loved pulling pranks on. “Family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs, the one’s who accept you for who you are. The one’s who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.” Danny was like flesh and blood to me, since the summer of 2001. He affectionately looked at me as his little sister and I reciprocated with mutually seeing him as my Big Bro. We shared many family enjoyable experiences together over our 13+ yrs as friends: Weddings, Bootcamp Sendoffs, Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays, Vacations, and just because moments. Hanging with him and his wife Jill, introduced me to a large circle of what I affectionately call My Original Biker Family, filled with many more good people and good connections. I always looked forward to seeing him, he let me be me and just loved me when I needed it. He looked out for me. I felt safe and protected whenever I was in his presence. We could talk on the phone for over an hour at times. I could always look forward to a comforting soothing hug and enthusiasm in his voice when he saw me. One of my favorite memories of Danny was when this chump named JP I had been dating broke up with me on my birthday in April 2005 and everyone was going to party at the Knotty Pine to celebrate Jill and my birthday’s. Danny and Jill kept calling me to come out and I so didn’t want to because my heart was breaking but Danny insisted and he came to my apartment to pick me up so I could get to “ride” for my birthday and be surrounded by friends who loved me. When he showed up, he was so sweet and tender and gave me a big ole hug and kiss and I hopped on and rode back to the Pine to party with the pack. At that moment, he felt like my hero and my tears just disappeared into the wind. I was so proud, privileged and honored to be one of very few women that had Jill’s permission to ride her spot on her man’s bike! Riding will never be the same for me because Danny was such a big inspiration to me getting my license and riding my own. He was so proud for and of me when I accomplished both goals. When he told me I was riding good, I swear, I felt like I had the ultimate stamp of approval and need not another ounce of input! It boosted my confidence and inspired me to keep getting better and better. He never picked on me when I would chicken out of a hill, or when I freaked out riding my new bike on the AA Highway for the first time trying to meet up with him, and was terrified. He was the ideal brother, coach and mentor a girl could ask for! I know that I am not alone here. I know there are many more similar stories but this one’s mine and I appreciate you hearing it and sharing it with me. I will carry and cherish these memories with me for the rest of my days! I will CELEBRATE MY BROTHER. I will talk to my brother and HE WILL KNOW, that he may be gone from this earth, BUT HE WILL NEVER, EVER BE FORGOTTEN. I am fully confident in saying that we all cared for, enjoyed and highly respected Danny very much. He was and will always be our “Leader of the Pack” and now our “Guardian Angel” in Heaven, looking over and out for us as we roll out onto two wheels or four, going about our days, until we unite with him again. The torch has now been passed down to his son DJ, who will walk in his father’s footsteps and lead us, with the help of Danny’s friends, riding “Mello Yellow” into our future times together and thus our memories of this wonderful man will carry on! This is my tribute song to my Big Bro - I
