Today we celebrate the life and promise of one of our former - TopicsExpress

Today we celebrate the life and promise of one of our former interns @Kitay Davidson who suddenly passed away just eight days before his 23rd birthday. A southside dreamer from the outskirts of Chicago, Ki’tay believed reforming our communities requires harnessing the power of people and community accountability. He often used his talents to be a voice for the voiceless and serves as a reminder of the great potential all of our youth possess. Kitay interned with America’s Promise during the summer of 2011 helping to launch a new youth engagement strategy and was a key player in our youth planning committee for the 2012 and 2013 Building a GradNation Summits. Most recently, he was the Social Innovation Coordinator at the Goldhirsh Foundation where he supported the LA2050 initiative. He has been honored by The White House as a “Champion of Change” for his disability advocacy and previously worked at Disability Rights International. Kitay is a graduate of American University, but credits the majority of his intellectual growth to his mom and people who have graciously shared their experiences with him. A true youth leader in more ways than one, Ki’tay genuinely cared about the mission of our organization. His leadership, spirit and joy will be missed. RIP
