Today, we commemorate the 73rd Anniversary of the Start of the Second World War in the Pacific. Seventy-three years ago, the combined forces of the Japanese Imperial Army and that of the Imperial Japanese Navy savagely and treacherously attacked Pearl Harbor and the Philippine Islands. Let us remember and honor all our war veterans for their sacrifice, gallantry, and commitment to democracy. May the whole world never forget their hardships especially of that of the combined Philippine Commonwealth Army, the United States Armed Forces in the Far East, servicemen of the Reserve Officers Traing Corps especially of the University of the Philippines, and the underground resistance led by the Hukbo ng Bayan Laban sa Hapon so that it may serve as the Asians lasting testament to liberty and freedom. May this world never plunge again into the horrors of War and destruction.
