Today we continue with medical facts that individuals with PWS face.... Fact: Abdominal distention/bloating, pain, and/or vomiting may be signs of life-threatening gastric inflammation or necrosis. Rather than localized pain, a general feeling of unwellness may occur. If an individual with PWS has any of these symptoms, it is important to watch them closely and contact a medical professional to decide how to proceed. Certain tests, such as an X-ray or endoscopy with biopsy may be needed to determine the seriousness of the issue. Fact: Many individuals with PWS tend to have a habit of skin picking, which can result in open sores. In addition, individuals with PWS also tend to bruise easily. These wounds can wrongly lead to suspicion of physical abuse. Tomorrow we will be taking a break from our daily facts to have fun at the 4th Annual On The Move event. We hope to see you all there!!
