Today, we feature the award-winning vineyards of Peju. Peju’s Rutherford Estate is a California Certified Organic vineyard, and is planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The winery’s two additional properties, located in Pope Valley and Calistoga, are both Certified Sustainable vineyards. At Persephone Ranch in Pope Valley, the climate is suited to grow Sauvignon Blanc, as well as Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are grown on the Wappo Vineyard in Calistoga. Drawing from such varied terroir, the wines exhibit the perfect blend of mountain-fruit focus and Rutherford complexity. The Cabernet Sauvignon - An elegant and enjoyable Cabernet that showcases light thyme and sage, vanilla, red fruits, and anise on the nose. Juicy plums and sweet oak come through on the palate with remarkably soft tannins from start to finish. The Sauvignon Blanc - This Sauvignon Blanc jumps out of the glass—pineapple, passion fruit, grapefruit and lychee are all very prominent on the nose. The palate offers more lush fruit and bright acidity with notes of creamy lemon tart, guava and apricot with a fresh, clean finish. And Tess. Tess means harvest and we chose this name for our winery because it invokes our earliest memories of farming grapes and making wine as a family. Tess is also the realization of our family’s dream to unite two parcels of vineyards and to create a wine from meticulously farmed grapes grown on our home estate in the Napa Valley. Tess is a delightful, refreshing wine that showcases the bright fruit of strawberry, raspberry and watermelon. A lovely aromatic nose displays pomegranate, cranberry and orange peel with light floral notes and hints of spice. This wine is surprisingly rich with soft tannins and balanced with bright acidity. Serve Tess chilled to 45°.
