Today we finally arrived in Cape Town, where the remainder of the tour’s activities will take place. Table mountain was a sight for sore eyes after the long drive from Montagu, there was little time to rest up however - as we had to make it up Lion’s Head before sundown. Lion’s head is nestled between Signal Hill and Table Mountain, together the trio forms a stunning backdrop for the city of Cape Town; it was the perfect welcome. The hike itself up the sandstone-clad upper slopes is stunning -even more so at sunset. The beautiful landmark is covered in indigenous fynbos, supporting an unusually large number of plants and animals. Lizards, snakes and scorpions all scuttled by as the group made it’s way down the mountain, as the light slowly dipped behind the horizon. All photos by Simon Watson.
