Today we got two more horses who were headed to a very different fate to the one they will have now. Since December, I have given new lives to 34 horses. 34 stars given a new chance to shine. Some have found forever homes, some looking for forever homes. But all safe. People ask me how can one person make a difference? How does that help at all? It doesnt change anything? But for those 34 horses, it changes everything. Exactly half of those horses were bought off a dealer and through nyne. The other half I out bid dealers for at olex. I dont care if I pay a dealer and neither does the horse. You can say Im giving money for them to buy another horse. They will just buy another anyway regardless of what I pay them. I paid a large amount to a dealer a month ago for a horse that ran through the sale twice because he was no good. Today that horse carried a young girl around and brought a smile to her face. Thats why I do this. That is why I will take these horses and give them a chance. And I know not everyone has the ability to do as we do, but there are many ways to help. To all of you who rescue these discarded useless horses, keep doing what you are doing. It is amazing how many lives we can save by working together. We are the light in the darkness, and its up to is to keep it shining. The fjords arrived today. I had met them at olex. I spent an hour in their pen. When the bidding got high and I saw they were heading for Ottawa I text Tracey to let her know one of the dealers had gotten them. She texts me later to say that yes there are up there. I must have annoyed the hell out of her each day about them until I managed to pull together enough to bail them. I even had names for them already. I was at the show today when they arrived. When I went into their stall for the first time, they both came up to me. I hadnt seen them since olex. Both mares placed their noses on my shoulders and leaned their heads into mine. That is why I do this. Not for the money, the attention, but for that moment when those ill fated horses relax and realize they are safe. Keep shining everyone, and one day we will make a difference for more than just one horse.
