Today, we helped launch this years MADD Ottawa #ProjectRedRibbon Campaign to end impaired driving in Ottawa. This year marks the 27th anniversary of Project Red Ribbon and as part of the awareness campaign, MADD red ribbons will be tied on to vehicles from the Ottawa Police, Fire, and Paramedic Services, as well as Gatineau Police, Ontario Provincial Police, the Canadian Forces Military Police and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Police can enforce the law, but it takes an entire community – made up of families, citizen groups, justice departments, educators, employers, and hospitality businesses― to prevent someone from choosing to drive impaired; that’s why the work of MADD, and reminders such as Project Red Ribbon, are so important. You can help by simply tying a red ribbon on your vehicle to promote awareness, or visit the local MADD Ottawa Chapter for more information, or donate at maddottawa.ca Remember to always call 911 if you suspect someone is driving impaired.
