Today, we hosted a press conference in Annapolis to announce the successful completion of our statewide petition drive in support of starting Marylands public schools after Labor Day weekend. I was proud to announce that we far exceeded our initial goal of 10,000 signatures, gathering 13,244 from families, teachers, farmers and small business owners throughout Maryland. Thrilled to report that the final signature came today from our Governor-elect, Larry Hogan, who endorsed the effort as good for families and important to the Maryland economy. Were off to a good start -- now we begin the hard work of passing a post-Labor Day bill into law.
