Today we mark the passing of an old friend of the Museum, Bob Symes who died yesterday aged 90. An inventor, television presenter and lifelong model railway enthusiast Bob regulary visited our site and acted as a judge giving out prizes for exhibits at our model railway and engine shows. He also helped push the Museum to a wider audience using his links within the BBC and other media. At home he was well known for his large model garden railway which he opend regulary to the public. He also had his own private steam driven power station, with engine and boiler which was sourced and installed by the old contracting team here at Kew. He will be sadly missed!
