Today we opened the doors on our new, outdoor cat lanai. The lanai is accessible through a cat door from the free-roaming area inside our shelter and will allow the cats to go in and out at will. Now, as they wait for their forever homes, our cats will be able to roll in grass, sleep in sunbeams, and perch in all sorts of places to watch the world go by. This innovative enrichment measure will help cut down on illness brought on by stress and give the cats more opportunities for socialization. The lanai is secure and will be kept locked at all times.
