Today we received funding through the WV CONFERENCE OF THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Southern WV Mission Initiative Grant for start up program of Nutritional Outreach on a SNAP BUDGET. Funds received will enable us to purchase table top grills and all necessary supplies for 10-12 individuals to actually prepare the meal with individualized instruction. Inspiration for this program will be drawn from GOOD AND CHEAP COOKBOOK by Leanne Brown. Participants will not only prepare the dish at the Foodbank, but will also take the fresh ingredients home to prepare the dish in their own kitchens! During the garden season we are developing several GROW AND GRILL sessions. Laura Dice and Jenny Totten have offered a session on SMOOTHIES!! Plans are for 12 classes but Im sure I can stretch $3,000! Have to thank my son Joel McKinney for working up my budget to attain this funding.
