Today we recommend paying it forward. Heres a story from Ken who did just that... Several years ago I was crossing Rockville Pike to get a bowl of my favorite Silver Diner Vegetarian Chili when a homeless man standing on the median strip with a cardboard sign told me he was hungry and needed money for food. Half jokingly, I said, Well, if you are hungry, lets go get a couple bowls of chili. Much to my surprise, he followed me across the street into the Silver Diner. We sat down at the counter and I ordered 2 bowls of chili and a couple cokes. My newfound compatriot asked if he could get a glass of milk instead. I said OK and we had lunch together. The server at the counter checked back with us several times to make sure everything was to our liking and my new friend said everyting was wonderful. He did not talk very much but when we parted company, he blessed me and said that was the best meal he ever had. For all the times that I walked out of the Silver Diner happily filled, that was the first time I had ever felt fulfilled. (thanks for inspiring all of us Ken)
