Today we remember and celebrate the 76th Birthday of my music hero, the Greatest Rock N Roll Guitarist/Greatest Rocker ever Eddie Cochran.Eddie was a brilliant innovator and pioneer with the guitar and his recording methods.He used multi-track recording & overdubbing way back in his early career in the mid 50s whilst recording with Hank Cochran.Eddie was the first famous & authentic Rocker to fly into the UK to play a 3 month tour.This length of tour had never been done & alongside Gene Vincent they played and wowed no end of venues & fans :) (Buddy Holly had played a 3 week tour in 1958). Eddie dazzled thousands of UK fans with his incredible talents on the guitar, amazing voice & good looks making him a massive hit with the ladies! He also wowed the English Rockers with his talent as a musician having a major influence on Joe Brown, Tony Sheridan & Big Jim Sullivan on guitar, Brian Bennett on the drums & Brian Liquorice Locking on bass (as Eddie played drums & bass as well as the piano!).On April 16th 1960 at about 1150pm Eddies taxi crashed in Chippenham, Wiltshire, England.He saved his girlfriend Sharon Sheeleys life by shielding her, unfortunately Eddie suffered serious injuries and tragically passed away the next day in hospital on 17th April 1960.I really wish I wouldve been lucky enough to have met Eddie, so it is nice to speak with people in this group who did see him play which mustve been awesome :) So Happy Birthday Eddie keep Rocking Heaven with your awesome Rock N Roll, you live on in your awesome, timeless music :) RIP & God Bless Eddie xxx
